Alocasia is the species and there are many varieties and hybrids. There are two common varieties of alocasia which are often kept as indoor foliage. One is Alocasia Cucullata, known by the common names Chinese taro, Chinese ape, Buddha's hand, and hooded dwarf elephant ear. The other is Alocasia amazonica Polly, which is normally known as the Kris Plant or Elephant Ear. Both of them do very well indoors in low or medium lighting conditions.
Picture shown here is Alocasia amazonica Polly which have impressive and stunning leaves are arrowhead or shield shaped with large protruding white Alocasia 'polly' leaves veins running through them which contrasts strongly with the rest of the dark green leaf.
